Megan Hopkin’s “Training the Next Teachers for America: A Proposal for Reconceptualizing teach for America” is about how Hopkin’s wants to alter the TFA to make lasting changes in the field of education. Megan Hopkin’s believes she was underprepared when teaching her first year of first graders. She says that even though she has grown to be a better educator of the years, it was a struggle. She feels that in order for more teachers to be better educated and better equipped, there needs to be a few alterations to the group. Hopkin’s stated that these recommendations will enhance the programs attributes. This is especially imperative now because our leaders today are located in many underprivileged schools.
Hopkin’s gives a step by step throughout the entire essay. She makes it very clear of her suggestions and gives elaborate details of how the new ideas will allow her solution to be successful. Hopkin’s uses subtitles in order to direct her readers in the right direction. This gives us students a good idea for what to write in our papers. I like how we go through all the entire essay and label what is necessary for the essay. It helps me to understand what is good and what is bad to include in the paper. Throughout this essay I have ever paragraph pretty much labeled with pen marks all over it. This helps me to get the correct format of what this paper should look like. Although it is still going to be pretty hard.
